To celebrate 5,000 years of Indian jewellery one company has vowed to transform a vehicle into a car made from pure gold.

Tata Goldplus has shortlisted three designs which have been unveiled to the public who have the final vote on which creation will be produced, the Hindu reports.

People have until December 12th to cast their views and then a Nano car will be transformed using the precious metal.

The completed article will be revealed in March after being manufactured at a factory in Hosur.

In 2008, Tata Goldplus was entered into the Limca Book of Records after creating the world's largest gold bangle.

The piece was based on an Indian design and measured six feet in diameter by six inches in width and was made from 22-c gold.

Those who vote on the three designs will automatically be entered into a competition to win a selection of prizes including gold pendants, key chains and gold coins.

The smaller of the two rises is in monetary worth of gold exports during October, which grew by 27.77 per cent year-on-year.

Overall, this took it from $515 million (£320 million) to more than $690 million for the month this time around.

In terms of quantity, a significant rise was also seen, exceeding the value increase to reach volume growth of 34.41 per cent.

The strong market expansion follows September sales which took the market to more than double its value in the same month of the previous year.

Compared with September 2009, this year saw 103 per cent more spent on gold jewellery exports in rupee terms, equivalent to volume growth of 113.5 per cent.
